Cllr Ankur Shiv BhandariI have lived in Bracknell Forest for 17 years and have been a councillor since 2019. It has also been my honour to also serve as The Mayor of Bracknell Forest since May 2022. Much of my work in the ward involves Planning matters and it is a constant challenge to ensure that we have planned development. Professionally, I have commercial experience in the consumer goods and services sector. My role as Mayor has come at a bittersweet time where on one hand I have had the honour to oversee the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of our late Queen, on the other hand I had to lead the Borough in marking our respect at our Monarch’s departure. A key theme of my Mayoral year has been “Opportunity”. I have tried to facilitate that through the creation of first ever “Opportunity Champions” recognition and creation of “Opportunity Awards Charity fund” so that all the monies raised for charity are distributed to local causes supporting the residents of Bracknell Forest. At the Borough Council, I have taken on additional responsibilities to support the borough and our residents, such as:
I ask again for your support so that I can continue my commitment to you and the community to ensure this remains a great place to live, work and play. |
Cllr John HarrisonI work as an IT consultant and live in Emmets Park, Binfield. Like many people in the ward, I work hard to earn a living but I also value our area as a great place to live so I am active in supporting our community. I have represented the ward of Binfield, then Binfield with Warfield on Bracknell Forest Council since 1997. I have been pleased to be able to help many individuals and families with issues and ensure you have representation when you need it most. I have worked to extend access to green spaces that residents can use, launched a crackdown on fly tipping that has led to several prosecutions and held the Police and Crime Commissioner to account. As part of the Conservative Team, I know the Council has no money of its own. I will always be mindful that it is your hard-earned money that the Council spends and work to make sure that Council tax is no higher than it has to be. |
Cllr Ian LeakeI am pleased to have been asked to stand as a candidate in Binfield North and West Warfield. I have lived here for over 30 years, playing an active part in the community as a member of Binfield Club, the Royal Naval Association and Chair of the local Rotary Club. As well as being a Borough councillor, I also serve on the Parish Council and have a record of standing up for local interests. Our ward is semi-rural in nature and people live here because they like it. I have always campaigned to keep it that way and will continue to do so. I have spoken out about, and voted against, inappropriate development especially in the Green Belt at Jealott's Hill. Protecting, safeguarding and improving our green spaces along with helping residents resolve issues connected to Council activities are my highest priority. Safer crossing places for children on school walking routes have been provided along with measures to make our roads safer. Together, we have achieved success through increasing recycling rates, enhancing our green spaces at Cabbage Hill and Popeswood Meadow and are on the verge of completing a new Community and Health Centre adjacent to the Kings Academy. This will further enhance the facilities available to local residents. |
