Chris FranklinMy wife Sarah and I moved to Harmans Water in 2005 prior to the birth of our second child. I joined a local IT company to work as a senior engineer in 2017. Between 1994 and 2002 I had worked at two companies within Bracknell Forest. This allowed us to choose Bracknell to bring up our children because of the green spaces and other facilities on our doorstep, as well as a successful local school. I have three children on the autistic spectrum, two of whom are at a local secondary school and one is now at university so education and supporting our young people will be a key focus for me. Our youngest child has had complex medical needs, which introduced us to various local support – the Wayz, speech therapy units and assistance provided by the council. As my children are getting older I want to use my experiences to help serve others locally. With a young family I will also want to ensure the council’s climate change strategy is delivered carefully and with the involvement of residents. I am pleased to be standing as a Conservative to represent Harmans Water and Crown Wood on Bracknell Forest Council. I believe everyone has a voice and with your support I will ensure residents’ voices are heard and used to shape current and future services. |
Lizzy GibsonAs a mother of two lively boys, I can often be found out and about enjoying Bracknell’s fabulous green spaces, shops and libraries and take pleasure in connecting with other residents. I have a special interest and professional background in Education and have used the knowledge and skills gained during my career to strive towards the best outcomes for all our young people, both in the community and as a member of the Corporate Parenting Advocacy panel. I also have direct personal experience of ensuring the care needs of elderly and vulnerable relatives are met and am a great believer in the value of clear signposting for the support available when times are most difficult. I do this both through the work of the Health and Care Overview and Scrutiny panel and individually with residents. To ensure these services are available to you I believe it’s vital we all get the best value for money for the things we all rely upon. I’m therefore keen to continue the good work our borough council has done in this area. From my earliest days in Girl Guiding, as a Brownie, through becoming a Guide Leader myself, and becoming involved in local politics and being elected a councillor, I have worked with, and learned from many great community leaders, and intend to use all that I have learned from them to serve the residents of Harmans Water and Crown Wood faithfully. If re-elected you can be assured I will be fully involved in protecting and improving the facility and character that make this a great place to live. |
Chris TurrellI have been on Bracknell Forest Council since 2000, first representing Harmans Water and Crown Wood until boundary changes in 2003. In 2013, I became Executive Member for Planning and Transport. In Bracknell Forest, growth means we face particular challenges and demands on our area and its infrastructure. In planning for future needs, I feel it is very important to preserve our quality of life, helped by our emerging Local Plan. I am keen to see the Council keep up high standards for the green areas and facilities in its care, and to continue to offer all residents the best possible service and value for money. Contact with residents is important: with my fellow ward councillors, I hold regular surgeries, call door-to-door and produce a newsletter, In Touch, with the only pause being during Covid restrictions. I work locally for a major hotel group, and have lived in Bracknell since 1993. I am on the management committee of The Wayz youth clubs, and I am a governor at Harmans Water Primary School. I re-joined the governing body in 2021, having previously been on it for 16 years until 2018. I have been on Bracknell Town Council since 2000. I chair the Strategy & Finance and Staffing committees, and have been Leader of the Town Council since 2004. As chair of the Bracknell Town Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, I was pleased that we were able to bring the Neighbourhood Plan into force, following the successful referendum of 2021. |
