Work continues slowly on redesign of Heathrow’s airspace, last carried out in the 1960s. LHR is responsible for its flightpaths up to 7000ft.
Under a process known as CAP1616, this has reached stage 2 (of 6).
At Stage 3, with an indicative date of 2024/25, wider engagement will be involved. The work involves development of a Comprehensive List of Options (CLOO), following 12 design principles, 5 spatial, 7 operational. These include environmental effects, noise, operational efficiency, respite, and seek to share out the effects of overflying.
