Elaine Chalmers-Brown, Director of Pilgrim Hearts Trust, welcomed borough councillors to the 21st birthday celebration of Pilgrim Hearts at St Andrews Church, Priestwood this afternoon including Conservative Cllrs Alvin Finch, Jennie Green and Sandra Ingham.
For the past 21 years Pilgrim Hearts have given rough sleepers a hand-up to a better life. Success is when they enable people to get going again, get a job and pay taxes.
Elaine thanked all volunteer helpers for their dedicated and inspirational work, including Dr Natasha Price for her holistic approach to the mental and physical health of rough sleepers. She also thanked local business for their support including John Lewis Partnership, Waitrose Bracknell and The Plough and Harrow Pub in Warfield.
The Pilgrim Hearts Night Shelter will not open this winter as Bracknell Forest Council continue to build on the 'Everyone-In' initiative. However the Pilgrim Hearts drop in centres remain open for those living on the edge and there is a free advice line on their website: 0800 121 4021.
