Bracknell Forest Local Plan moves towards adoption as Jealotts Hill site is dropped
The Bracknell Forest Local Plan was submitted to the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities on 20 December 2021. Following this, two planning inspectors, David Troy and Louise Nurser, were appointed to undertake an independent examination into the legal compliance and soundness of the Local Plan.
The examiners reported back to Bracknell Forest Council on 19 January 2023, saying the plan was capable of adoption subject to modifications being made. Three sites, including the Syngenta site, were recommended to be dropped from the plan, but, significantly, no new sites were sought. An overarching policy on climate change will be added to the plan.
On 21 March 2023, Bracknell Forest’s executive accepted this position, and approved a modifications consultation.
What next?
Bracknell forest’s planning officers will work to produce modifications in line with the examiners’ recommendations. These will be consulted upon in May and June 2023. Further details will be announced in due course. Representations would be forwarded to the examiners. The examiners will then consider them and report back. The plan will then proceed to adoption later in 2023.
