Protecting our sense of community

Bracknell Forest Council delivers over 200 different services.

To secure strong and safe communities we will continue to:

  • deliver a strong Local Plan which will identify where development will go for the next 15 years and encourage sustainable development with appropriate infrastructure .
  • oppose development that is not consistent with our Local Plan.
  • seek to maintain the viability of our community based shopping and employment areas and continue to support our community centres and libraries.
  • work with our local police to maintain good public order, reduce anti-social behaviour and combat drug related crime.
  • protect our highly valued green spaces and strategic green gaps to prevent places merging and losing their unique identities.
  • recognise the importance of our culture and arts facilities such as South Hill Park.
  • deliver housing services that focus on preventing homelessness.

We will continue to:

  • work with NHS partners and GPs to seek more or improved health facilities.
  • direct our housing strategy to explore ways for Downshire Homes Limited, (which is wholly owned by the Council and provides homeless accommodation), to increase the delivery of more affordable homes.
  • promote recycling and waste management and to seek new ways to enable you to recycle more.
  • bid for government money to support our road infrastructure, promote greater use of public transport, cycleways and improve parking.
  • support the cultural diversity of our communities that has led to 96% of residents saying we all get on well together. (Residents survey 2017).
  • invest in quality leisure facilities and seek to provide a new country park to help keep every one happy and healthy.
  • take into account the effects of climate change, the use of plastics and the need for more sustainable forms of energy.
