Moira GawI have lived in the area for 23 years and am fully committed and dedicated to achieving the very best for you and your family. I work as a teacher, and I believe a good education is of key importance. I work hard to ensure that it is accessible for all, irrespective of age or circumstances. I understand the local frustrations because they affect me as well, speeding and traffic, litter, obtrusive planning applications, potholes, road works and difficulties accessing healthcare. During the last eight years, I have represented you as a Bracknell Forest Councillor and as a Winkfield Parish Councillor. This has allowed me to successfully tackle a variety of wide-ranging issues that you have raised: recycling, inappropriate planning applications, accessing support grants, highways issues including speeding, localised flooding and the protection of our green belt and green spaces. I have had additional responsibility as the Older Peoples Champion. This has allowed me to progress, promote and resolve many of the issues that affect older people in our Borough, while raising the profile and contribution made to communities by our senior citizens. Your vote on 4th May will mean building on achievements to date and will ensure a committed, strong voice to represent you in the ward of Winkfield and Warfield East for the next four years. |
Dorothy HayesI am a resident of the ward and I have lived in Ascot/Winkfield since 1987 to present day. As a Widow, and a working mum and grandmother, I understand the challenges that modern day parents and families face in these very trying times, often multi-tasking with home and careers. I am an experienced and caring Councillor. I have been a Parish Councillor since 1991 and a Bracknell Forest Councillor since 1993. During which time, I hope my residents would agree, I have tried on their behalf to attain their requirements to the best of my ability. I am the Executive Member for the Environment/Climate Change, Waste Management/Recycling, Carbon Footprint Reduction/Landscaping. I am Chairman on the Re3 Board (Longshot Lane/Smallmead Civic Amenity sites). Both sites have received public and council (country wide) recognition for Excellence, efficiency, and value for money for the residents of our Borough. Overseeing and recognition being given to the successful food waste collection which in the first year removed 6,000 tons from landfill. Also the successful Recycle Blue Bin Good Cause scheme, which has financially benefited charities, schools and local groups with much needed monies for work in the environment. I am a firm believer that residents of all ages should be able to live in a safe and secure environment. I will continue to resist over development and protect our valued green spaces. If re-elected I reaffirm my commitment to work hard for the benefit of all residents of this ward. |
Tony VirgoI am delighted to seek election for the new ward of Winkfield and Warfield East. I have a good all-round knowledge of the area and will work hard to retain its character and rural aspect. Large development puts a huge strain on local infrastructure, and I will continue to fight against inappropriate development and protect the greenbelt. I want to make it a priority to reduce vehicle speeds. It has been a pleasure to see significant improvement to all our schools and the success of the new Town Centre. I look forward to further development including boasting arts and community activities to make Bracknell such a vibrant and exciting Town. I formed and am Chair of our Climate Change Panel and if elected will develop ways of reducing waste and greenhouse gases, collaborating with our partners, residents, and local businesses to achieve our target of zero carbon by 2050. |
